Tuning rules for unstable dead-time processes

چکیده

Despite many advances in the field of dead-time compensators (DTCs) for unstable first-order plus (UFOPDT) processes, tuning, general, is manually carried out. Therefore, this paper proposes simple tuning rules a DTC intended to UFOPDT processes. The are based on relative dead time, desired closed-loop time constant, and achievable robustness. Besides, as practical implementation always discrete-time domain, method choose sampling period processes presented. Four simulation examples from literature used show advantages proposed method. In addition, an experiment with propeller pendulum performed confirm such control real process time.

New Simple Controller Tuning Rules for Integrating and Stable or Unstable First Order plus Dead-Time Processes

Three new direct synthesis methods providing new simple rules of tuning the Pseudo-Derivative Feedback controller for integrating as well as stable or unstable first order processes with time delay are presented. The proposed control structure and tuning methods ensure smooth closed-loop response to set-point changes, fast regulatory control and sufficient robustness against parametric uncertai...

PID-Like Controller Tuning for Second-Order Unstable Dead-Time Processes

Several processes encountered in various fields of engineering exhibit an inherently unstable behaviour coupled with time delays. To approximate the open loop dynamics of such systems for the purpose of designing controllers, many of these processes can be satisfactorily described by unstable transfer function models. The most widely used models of this type is the unstable first order plus dea...

PID controller frequency-domain tuning for stable, integrating and unstable processes, including dead-time

In the present paper a new tuning procedure is proposed for the ideal PID controller in series with the first-order noise filter. It is based on the recently proposed extension of the Ziegler–Nichols frequencydomain dynamics characterization of a process Gp(s). Measured process characteristics are the ultimate frequency and ultimate gain, the angle of the tangent to the Nyquist curve of the pro...

Simple Tuning Rules of PID Controllers for Integrator/Dead time Processes

In this paper, simple rules for tuning PID controllers for integrator/dead time processes are proposed. These rules are derived by the optimization of a discrete-time error integral criterion called the switch time weighted summation of squared error (SWSSE) criterion. In this criterion, the first M samples of the transient response are weighted by 1, while the remaining samples until the end o...

A Unified IMC based PI/PID Controller Tuning Approach for Time Delay Processes

This paper proposes a new PI/PID controller tuning method within filtered Smith predictor (FSP) configuration in order to deal with various types of time delay processes including stable, unstable and integrating delay dominant and slow dynamic processes. The proposed PI/PID controller is designed based on the IMC principle and is tuned using a new constraint and without requiring any approxima...
